Don hired master carpenter Rich Palmer and the transformation began. Using trees felled and milled right on the property the stairs were built - and the whole barn was transformed into a magical, intimate, breathtaking site.
Don is an architect/designer, photographer, and artist. Staying true to the character of the original structure he opened the space to the light. Stained glass windows on every floor filter light through the space. Exotic woods for the floors, hand hewn beams for the railings and antiques collected by Don over his lifetime fill the structure. Kirby Kepler and Aaron Walter married on October 8, 2011. Kirby was the first bride to celebrate her new life in the century old barn. We now invite other brides to create their own fairytale experience. Come see Blueberry Dune Farm and explore the possible dream. Call Barbara Hirschfeld at 219-324-6335 and schedule a tour.

In January 2011 owner Don Kepler learned his daughter Kirby would be getting married in October of that year. She wanted the reception on the 90 acre estate where she grew up surrounded by the lush beauty of the Northwestern Indiana countryside. Blueberry bushes turn a bright red in autumn and all the foliage on the estate is at its most beautiful. An incredible backdrop. Kirby wanted the site for her wedding to be at the 108 year old historic barn on the property. She asked one thing "Could Don please build a new set of stairs to replace the rickety metal stairs going to the second floor".
